Mark Shattuck received an architecture degree from Georgia Tech in 1994, spending his senior year studying architecture in Paris, France and western Europe.  Since then he has specialized in custom home design, opening his own firm -- Cornerstone Design Studio -- in 2002.

All the while, his passion for classical architecture and abstract art spurred a desire to blend the old and the new. By 2015, Mark began experimenting with architectural photography of iconic structures and mixed media applications to create abstracted images with archival textures and finishes.

His art involves a 4-step process:  first, he trowels a layer of heavy plaster; next he transfers a distressed photographic image onto the plaster; then he adds a rusticated-looking paint application to finish the archival appearance; and finally, a thick glossy clear-coat emboldens the tones with a modern finish.
